Jeffrey Blackwell

I am a writer, filmmaker, photographer, and web developer who produces multimedia content as Communications Director at the Memorial Church of Harvard University, in my gallery work, and online. I manage all aspects of communications, content development, marketing and promotion, brand management, development, and creative campaigns.

Every time I pick up a camera, press record to capture video, or sit down at the keyboard to write, I am inspired to tell a story. My mind works in sequential images, creating an internal motion picture of moments from what I see and experience, and I bring this gift of a visual mind to each project and assignment, creating a meaningful story and a poignant conversation.

Before joining Harvard in 2016, I was a newspaper journalist, multimedia specialist, and online editor for more than 30 years, working in newsrooms including USA Today, Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle, and Portland (Maine) Press Herald.

I live on Boston’s South Shore with my wife, Deborah, a writer, editor, podcaster, and communications professional at Harvard. I find joy in activities including kayaking, yoga, fine art street photography, and producing short films, which add a unique dimension to my professional and personal life.
